Epicure is an independent journal dedicated to gastronomy, fine wines, exceptional stays and culinary travel. For those who seek not necessarily more, but better.
Epicure is about taste in every sense of the word. A restaurant where everything feels just right. A bottle worth remembering. A hotel you wish you could stay at a little longer. And destinations worth going out of your way for.
No endless lists for the sake of it, but a carefully curated selection of places, stories and experiences.
Epicure is editorially independent. Only places, products and experiences we genuinely believe are worth discovering earn a place in our journal or recommendations. Invitations and collaborations may be part of the journey, but they never dictate what we write.
Meet the Epicures

When Maartje van Klinken was asked as a child what she wanted to be when she grew up, she confidently replied: a connoisseur. Not much has changed since.
Driven by her love of gastronomy, wine and travel, she founded Epicure - a journal dedicated to places, stories and experiences she believes are worth remembering.
Maartje holds a WSET certification from the Academie voor Gastronomie and happily travels for exceptional food and wine, preferably somewhere just outside her comfort zone.
She lives in Utrecht, has a soft spot for Viognier, and would gladly make the trip to Berlin for a table at Restaurant Tim Raue.

Martijn is WSET-certified and spent over a decade as a professional taster on Heineken’s sensory panel. He also brings years of experience exploring restaurants and evaluating flavour, quality and the overall dining experience.
With a discerning palate and a keen eye for detail, he has a talent for putting flavours and impressions into words.
His favourite restaurant is Hiša Franko in Slovenia, and his grape of choice is Gewürztraminer.
